FLIGHT INSTRUCTION 2TRAINING SYLLABUSSparky's Training Course Syllabus for the complete mountain flying training course (Review and Standardization, Mountain Flying Operations, and Cross Country Flying) consists of two separate sections containing the lesson plans; one for ground training and one for flight training. The sections are taught concurrently. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSSome mountain flying schools will not accept a student for training unless that student has a minimum of 250 hours of flight time. It is difficult to determine that a pilot can operate safely at a backcountry airstrip based on the number of flight hours he has logged. Obviously the more hours a pilot has, the greater his experience level. A more realistic "rule" to gauge whether or not it is safe for a pilot to operate at a backcountry strip is to demand perfection in three areas: 1. Knowledge of Stalls, 2. Airspeed Control, and, 3. Spot Method for Landing proficiency. TRAINING PHILOSOPHYSome pilots desire a knowledge of mountain flying, that is, maneuvering safely with the mountains; others want this information plus backcountry airstrip operations. Regardless of your objectives, a training syllabus customized to your particular requirements will be provided for your training.
